You are invited to an open house with Michael J. Wilson for the Launch of his newest book Still Dancing!
Reading by Mike at 7:30p.m.
*Cash Bar

Anyone who knows Mike, knows him as one of 2 titles; “Mike the Fisherman" or “Mike the Poet”.
But those who really know him understand his love and passion for both. One does not exist without the other.
Mike started fishing at a young age. Born in Windsor Ontario Mike spent many summers in Port Stanley with his grandparents. Being close to the lake only enhanced his love of nature and respect for the water.
In his late teens Mike hopped on a fish tug and he never looked back.
All the while, Mike wrote.
During his off-season Mike was rarely seen without a pen in hand and a pipe in his mouth. Always sharing his latest piece with anyone willing to listen. Whether that be his family, a friend, a neighbour stopping by or the Jehovah Witnesses just dropping off magazines. In fact, if you have ever been to his home, or stepped onto his porch you have likely heard, “do you have a minute? I want to read you something.”
And you stayed
And you listened.
And before you knew it half the day is gone, yet you stay. For one more poem, and one more story.
Unfortunately, in the late fall of 2008, all this changed. Mike suffered a traumatic brain injury while out on the lake. He lost his ability to read and his ability to write. No longer able to work, and to fish Mike was truly unsure what the future looked like for him.
But he wasn’t willing to give up. With the love and support from his wife and 4 children he fought.
He beat all odds.
He relearned how to read, and then how to write. Slowly, he found himself again. Although day to day can be a struggle he continues to push forward. His writing is what saved him.
From Mike’s darkest times, through years of recovery and dedication came his most beautiful and inspiring work yet.
Still Dancing is more than just a book of poems. It is a lifetime of passion, love, joy and heartache.
We are beyond exited for Mike to finally be able to share this with the world.
