Highwheel Way Cycle Route
Ride a piece of Elgin’s history along the Highwheel Way! With paved shoulders from Aylmer down to Port Bruce along Hwy #73, you will end at the scenic lakeside village of Port Bruce. There you can learn about about Doolittle, an Elgin County native who was a famous Highwheel bicycle racer with a beautiful hand painted mural dedicated to the inventor!
Whistlestop Trail
RIDE, RUN, ROAM your way through kilometres of lush landscape stretching all the way from the historic Railway City to the harbour of Port Stanley. Navigate this natural trail along St. Thomas paths and parks. Wander up to Sunset Drive, where the path meets Port Stanley Terminal Rail, guiding you to a vibrant beachfront town.
Lake Erie Waterfront Trail
The Lake Erie portion of the Waterfront Trail expands westwards along Lake Erie, travelling through 27 waterfront communities along a signed, mostly on-road route. This trail further enhances the vibrant and diverse Lake Ontario Waterfront Trail and offers another 620km of wonderful Ontario waterfront to enjoy.
St. Thomas and Four Ports Tour
This four-day journey, takes you along quiet rural roads and a waterfront trail, down Lake Erie’s northern shoreline and through communities with rich maritime heritage and vast agricultural lands. This route is suitable for cyclists with experience and comfort riding on roads, although you can expect low traffic at low speeds. Bike lanes and paved shoulders are found on some roads.
