Getting to Elgin & St.Thomas
Elgin County and St. Thomas are easily reached by land, air or water, and finding your way around once you get here is easy!
By land, Elgin County is found along and south of Highway 401 near London and St. Thomas. Highway 3, part of which is also known as The Talbot Trail, winds its’ way through our picturesque county, taking you on a journey through time along a road built by Col. Talbot and our forefathers.
To find us by car:
From Highway 401 (London)
- Exit 401 at HWY #74
- Follow to end
- Left onto Talbot Road (HWY #3)
- Follow approx 4KMs
- Turn right onto Springwater Rd (County Rd #35)
- Steelway is on right hand side, just past Springwater Conservation Area
- Reaching John Wise Line (HWY#45) means you have gone to far
From Highway 401 (Toronto)
- Exit 401 at Elgin Road (HWY #73)
- Follow until downtown Aylmer stoplights
- Right onto Talbot Road (HWY #3)
- Follow approx 3KMs
- Turn left onto Springwater Rd (County Rd #35)
- Steelway is on right hand side, just past Springwater Conservation Area
- Reaching John Wise Line (HWY#45) means you have gone to far

If you’re coming by air, the full-service St. Thomas Municipal Airport is minutes away from Elgin’s main centres and attractions, and London International Airport’s a short drive away. Toronto Pearson International Airport is just 2 hours by car
By Water
By water, Elgin’s found along Ontario’s South Coast, and we’ve got lots of marinas and docking facilities at our ports to handle all your needs. Port Stanley, Port Bruce, Port Glasgow and Port Burwell offer excellent fishing and recreational activities, and Port Stanley are an international harbour on the Great Lakes – St. Lawrence Seaway, providing some breathtaking vessels to come and see.
