Canada Southern Railway Station
June Induction Ceremony
The Induction Ceremony is a gala event held in Anderson Hall, the station dining hall, every second year. The next event is scheduled for 2012. The purpose of this ceremony is to honour inductees into the North America Railway Hall of Fame. The ceremony includes hor d’oeuvres, a cash bar, and entertainment.
Annual Strawberry Social
Join the North America Railway Hall of Fame for their Strawberry Social in the historic Canada Southern Railway Station. This is a great opportunity for the public to check out the progress made in the station’s on-going restoration work. Enjoy the entertainment and savour the sweet tastes of local strawberries and ice-cream in the historic dining room.
Elgin County Railway Museum
Railway Nostalgia Weekend and Railway Heritage Day
Each year thousands of railway enthusiasts travel to St. Thomas to take part in the Elgin County Railway Museum’s Railway Nostalgia Weekend in June and Railway Heritage Weekend In August.
These events feature guided tours of displays and trains, interaction with engineers and conductors, railway themed music, venders and display tables, food concessions, and the opportunity to view the entire collection at the Elgin County Railway Museum.
These events have continued to grow each year, and in the past have drawn visitors from across Canada, the United States, and even Europe.
